FUNDING

Initial program costs for a PA TIC program range from $1,000-$1,500. These funds help to purchase all equipment necessary to transform a 55-gallon aquarium into a mini-coldwater ecosystem. Replacement equipment costs for program continuation, including new filter sponges, filter media, and water quality test kits, range from $150.00 to $250.00.  PA TIC teachers are encouraged to explore the external funding opportunities and program sponsors available to them, including:

  • Program Partners
These organizations or individuals actively engages TIC students in various presentations, lessons, and activities relating to the TIC program to help teachers achieve the highest rate of program success possible. Some partners may be willing to help provide funds for equipment or classroom excursions as program sponsors. Explore potential Program Partners, and consider asking your partners if funding is possible for their organizations.  Always begin by asking your local Trout Unlimited chapter(s) if they can help!
  • PATU Existing Program Grant
PA Trout Unlimited offers a grant to teachers already participating in the TIC program. This grant provides funding for field trips, curriculum enhancement materials, classroom supplies, and replacement equipment. Explore how to apply to on our PATU Grant page.
  • Additional Funding Opportunities
There are many more opportunities for funding besides a program partner or a school. There are many grants specifically available to teachers related to environmental education and conservation. Explore examples on our Other Funding page.
