Many educational resources are available throughout the PA TIC website, but the following documents are the go-to documents that each PA TIC partner and teacher should be familiar with. Because documents may be updated from year to year, please revisit this page each new school year to ensure you are utilizing the most recent version. Documents were last updated in spring 2020.

1. PA TIC Aquarium Resource Guide
This in-depth document acts as a "one-stop doc" on PA TIC, providing essential guidance on equipment , aquarium set-up/maintenance, trout care, and more. The guide was updated in 2020 to reflect the program's transition from brook trout to rainbow trout. Download the PA TIC Aquarium Resource Guide below, either as one document or in individual sections:

2. PA TIC Fact Sheet
This two-page document provides a brief program overview, classroom objectives, steps for getting started, and a timeline for your PA TIC program. This is a valuable summarizing document to refresh existing PA TIC participants on the need-to-know information, and to recruit new PA TIC program partners or teachers. It may also be helpful to share with school administrators or potential program funders/sponsors. 

3. Ordering Your PA TIC Equipment
This one-page document provides important information on the key equipment to order or refurbish each program year, as well as the vendors you will need to go through.

4. PA TIC Equipment List 
This two-page document provides a list of necessary and optional equipment and supplies that are needed to implement the Trout in the Classroom program.

5. PA TIC Curriculum Map
The curriculum map explores TIC themes, concepts, and activities and links them to specific curriculum standards. Note: PA standards reflected in the curriculum map are currently being redeveloped, so please use the curriculum map as a guide only and refer to the Academic Standards section of the Curriculum Connections page for more information.

who we are

Made possible through a unique partnership between the Pennsylvania Council of Trout Unlimited (PATU) and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), Pennsylvania Trout In the Classroom (PA TIC) is an interdisciplinary environmental education program in which students learn about current and past impacts, management, and protection and enhancement opportunities of Pennsylvania's coldwater resources, while raising trout in the classroom. ​
