A successful and sustainable Trout In the Classroom (TIC) program relies upon the efforts of many dedicated entities. Without their combined efforts, PA TIC would not exist.

The TIC program is operated and managed by Pennsylvania Trout Unlimited (PATU) and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC). Funding is provided by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Sport Fishing and Aquatic Resource Education Grant, PATU, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education's (PDE)department of environment and ecology. These funds are used by PATU to manage a TIC grant program for new and existing classrooms. PATU and PFBC manage the program by providing staff, technical assistance, educational resources, and workshops to support TIC participants.
Program partners are the "backbone" of the TIC program. They provide a relationship with interested teachers, provide support, participate in TIC projects, and assist in aquarium support.
Teachers are responsible for implementing the TIC program in their school. Teachers utilize the program to supplement their curriculum, teach students the importance of coldwater conservation, establish a relationship with their program partner, and incorporate and share program experience through community projects.
Students will learn the importance of coldwater conservation and why it is important to protect Pennsylvania’s native brook trout. Students implement coldwater conservation into their daily lives, educating the community and become watershed stewards.
The community will engage in coldwater conservation practices, through the help of program partners, teachers, and students. Through these connections, stream clean-ups, restorations projects, and other conservation practices will be established throughout the watershed.
